Improve 64 construction scheduled to begin

FLOYD COUNTY, Ind. – July 7, 2026Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will begin construction on the Improve 64 project in Floyd County on or after Monday, July 13, 2026.


Drivers should anticipate overnight lane restrictions from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, in the following locations:


  • On I-64 from W. Spring St. to U.S. 150 (MM 123 to 119)

  • On I-265 from the I-64 interchange to Green Valley Rd. (MM 41.6 to 39.8)

  • 0.5 miles from the I-64 interchange to Old Vincennes Rd. on U.S. 150 



Improve 64 is part of INDOT’s strategy to reduce congestion and improve safety and mobility along I-64 in Floyd County, enhancing the overall travel experience along the corridor. The project includes added travel lanes and interchange improvements to enhance the corridor’s operational efficiency. Bridge and culvert replacement and rehabilitation, as well as noise barrier, new guardrail, and concrete barrier wall installation on portions of I-64, I-265 and U.S. 150 are also part of the project.
